Our travel from the Badlands to Rapid City was uneventful to was one of our short travel days. Another day above a 100 degree. This weather is messing with a lot of my outdoors activities I planned. After arriving and getting settled what should we do. Too hot for outdoors how about checking out the towns of Keystone and Hill City. Got some wineries or tasting rooms, cool and ac would be nice. Shower and clean up get out of the hiking clothes and into some street cloths. Off we go walk through the town of Keystone, very tourist downtown with all the shops and ice cream and restaurants. Found some cool shirts getting hot headed to the town Hill City. Similar downtown first tasting room Twisted Pine had all the local wines, 6 tasting and a glass to keep. Ok not bad next in a beautiful winery and restaurant and event place called Prairie Berry Winery. Nice grounds, greeted the minute you walk in. Great fruit wines.
So now let head to Rapid City for supper and one more wine tasting. Firehouse Winery talked with a great server got some local information and places to go. Sat outside and enjoyed the people walking by. This was Thursday night and in Rapid City that means Summer Nights, which in bands playing all through the city. Great city, its so clean and easy to find parking and so friendly especially for being the second largest city in South Dakota. Had some good Indian food for supper. Found out it was started by a couple of doctors. Oh well lets call it a day.
