Sunday on Saturday

With yet another super hot day coming on so we thought a morning hike and picnic on Sylvan Lake. The lake looked beautiful when we went by it doing the Needles Highway yesterday. 

We first thought we would do the lake hike, which was just a mile around since it was already getting hot. Came at the crossroads of Sunday Gulch and a mere 4 miles. (Sunday Gulch on Saturday oh well always a day off). With Steve encouragement we decided to take it. Well it was a great hike but and very strenuous one, with all the ups and downs took us 3 hours and of course MORE stair and wet ones the rock were wet and slippery

By the time we got back it was so hot we did our picnic in our jeep with the a/c on. Now with our tummies full we decided to go through the wildlife scenic byway again, since it was hot, it was a fun thing to do. Plus I found a great way to take pictures, with the jeep’s top down I can get great pics from the top of the jeep.

Tonight was the Lighting ceremony at Mt. Rushmore, so well worth going. They did a beautiful job, very Patriotic and they honored all the military. Good night worth staying up until 11, knowing that we would be up and on the road at 6:30 the next day.
